About Me My name is Shannon McDermott and I am majoring in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry. I plan to attend Medical School with the hope of eventually becoming a physician. My background in photography is informal, yet for years I have used photos as a way to capture significant moments. I have always been the person who snaps candid images of my friends, the places we visit, the food we eat, and anything that peaks my interest. My love for taking pictures is based on the idea that each photo can transport you back and reconnect with time. Photographs are my attempt at providing the lens through which I see the world and all that surrounds me. I provide a unique perspective and vision of beauty in hopes of sharing it with others. Though I have little knowledge of the terminology or specifics that advanced photographers have, I am eager to learn more and advance my skills in this beloved art form.
Course Goals I have several goals for this course and I am anxious to learn and exemplify the skills that I will obtain through this class. One of my course goals throughout this semester is to improve my understanding of cameras and how to adjust the camera settings and utilize proper lenses and filters to achieve the desired outcome for my photos. Another goal is to learn how to produce my perfect perception of the natural world through the use of different lighting and angling techniques. My last goal is to become better acquainted with the advanced terminology that compliments the art of photography.
